Motorola’s Android 15 update is making some phones unusable: Report | Technology News

Motorola makes some of the best budget and mid-range smartphones of all time, but the company has had a poor track record when it comes to software and Android updates. The company often releases security patches once every two months, and several phones will only get one Android update. However, the company recently started rolling out the Android 15 update sooner than expected, but not everything seems to be going great for the Lenovo-owned phone maker.
According to a recent report by Android Authority, several users who installed the Android 15 update on their Motorola devices are facing an issue with the default launcher constantly crashing, rendering the phone unusable for some. While users who have switched to a custom launcher like Nova and Microsoft Launcher seem to be unaffected by the problem, some say the stock launcher was overriding the system settings.
The report suggests that the problem currently affecting the ThinkPhone 25 and the 2023 Razr Plus, but some Edge 50 Neo say they are also facing a similar issue. As it turns out, clearing app data and cache seems to be doing nothing for those affected.
If you are facing a similar issue, the only way to fix it right now is to press the power button and open your phone’s settings app from the notification tray from the lock screen. Now, find the ‘Home’ option from the search bar and switch to any launcher other than the default one. In case you haven’t installed any third-party launcher, go to the ‘Apps’ section from ‘Settings’, scroll down and open the Google Play Store to download the launcher of your choice.
