Sigma introduces a minimalist full-frame camera with swappable lenses | Technology News

On Monday, Sigma introduced its latest full-frame mirrorless digital camera—the BF—with a radically simple design. Featuring a 24.6 MP full-frame (35mm) sensor, it has just three physical buttons, along with a shutter release and a dial to control various aspects. The camera uses an L-mount lens system, allowing compatibility with lenses of different focal lengths, just like most full-frame cameras.
With a full-metal unibody design, the Sigma BF is available in two colour options—black and silver—along with nine colour-matching lenses ranging from 17mm to 90mm. Priced at $1,999 (approximately Rs 1,74,288), the camera will be available for purchase in select markets starting April 2025.

“We present an uncompromising new vision for the digital camera. Stripped to the essence but packed with power, innovative yet rooted in the origins of photography, it is designed to accompany you throughout your day and capture the spontaneous beauty of everyday life. The BF balances performance with simplicity and returns the focus to what matters most: your photographs,” Sigma wrote on the product page.
The camera features a small, dedicated status monitor display that showcases active settings such as ISO and aperture, which can be controlled using the rotatable dial pad with a diamond-like texture. The Sigma BF offers an ISO range of 100 to 102,400 and autofocus capabilities for subjects such as humans and pets.
In terms of photography capabilities, the Sigma BF offers 13 different colour modes, including standard and monochrome. It can also record videos in up to 6K resolution, with support for up to 120fps at 1080p and L-log compatibility. Unlike most mirrorless cameras, which typically include at least one SD card slot, the Sigma BF does not have one. Instead, it comes with 230GB of internal storage, which can accommodate more than 14,000 JPEG files, 4,300 uncompressed RAW images, or 2.5 hours of video. Files can be transferred to a Mac or PC via the USB-C port.
The easily replaceable rechargeable battery supports up to 60 minutes of continuous video recording or approximately 260 images. It also supports fast charging via USB-C.
