After nearly four years, Spotify’s highly anticipated HiFi audio streaming might finally arrive to compete with other music streaming platforms like Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Tidal, Bloomberg reported on Saturday. While Spotify is said to be finalising the details, the upcoming subscription might cost an additional $6 per month, increasing the total monthly subscription cost to $18.
Spotify’s HD audio streaming might be labelled as “Music Pro” and could serve as an add-on package to the existing premium tier, which costs $11.99. This approach differs from platforms like Apple Music, which offer HD music streaming to all subscribers at no extra cost.
Spotify is expected to unveil Music Pro within 2025. Considering the R 119 price tag for its premium plan in India, Music Pro might cost around Rs 150.
To encourage users to subscribe to the new tier, Spotify’s Music Pro subscription might also include additional perks such as song remixing capabilities, early access to concert ticket deals and discounts, and more.
Recently, Spotify secured deals with major music publishing companies like Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group, ensuring access to the necessary content and permissions required to offer high-quality music.
Spotify first announced its HiFi music tier in 2021. Since then, discussions about its launch have continued, but an official rollout has yet to materialize. However, it now seems likely to finally happen in 2025.
