The annual developer conference will run from May 19 to May 22. It is being held in Seattle, United States. Those interested can join online as well. This year’s Microsoft Build is being held just a day before Google holds its I/O event, with tech expo Computex also being held later this month.

Microsoft Copilot is likely to be the star of this year’s show as well. The tech giant has been pulling out all the stops to make Copilot the only AI model that Windows users rely on. It is likely that Microsoft will showcase a few new AI features that have been in the pipeline for the past few months, such as Copilot semantic search in Settings, File Explorer, and the main Windows Search.

There is also a lot of chatter about Windows 11. Earlier this year, Microsoft debuted the controversial Recall feature that is available as part of the operating system on Copilot+ PCs. The company might unveil an upgraded version of Recall and expand its availability to more regions, along with other small features and optimisations coming to Windows 11.

Microsoft is also expected to reveal more features centered around Copilot Agents which was announced at an event in April this year. It is widely known that the company has been developing an in-house, foundational large language model (LLM) in a move away from OpenAI’s ChatGPT that currently powers Copilot. It would be interesting to hear more about that at this year’s Build event.

Even though the Xbox showcase is scheduled for June 8, Microsoft might provide a first look of the new handheld that is being developed in partnership with Asus, codenamed Project Kennan.

In terms of what not to expect, it is highly unlikely for Microsoft to talk about Windows 12 at Build 2025 as the company is reportedly still struggling to get Windows 10 users to upgrade to 11.
