Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with voice-activated AI debut in India: Price starts at Rs 29,900 | Technology News

On Tuesday, Meta launched its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in India, marking a major step in the company’s hardware push in one of its biggest consumer technology markets. Co-designed with EssilorLuxottica, the smart glasses come with built-in Meta AI and are now available in a range of styles, including the new Skyler frame, with prices starting at Rs 29,900 and going up to Rs 35,700 for select models.

The glasses are available for pre-order starting today via various online and offline partner channels. While these come with standard lens options, users can get them customized to include prescription lenses for a nominal price.

Originally launched in the US in 2023, the smart glasses are now on sale in India through major online and offline retail channels. The India launch makes it one of the first Asian markets to gain access to Meta’s latest wearable tech.

This could also be an indicator that Meta may soon introduce its Quest range of VR headsets in India. These are already available via third-party resellers on platforms like Amazon, though at a slightly higher price.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses are equipped with a 12 MP camera that can shoot high-quality photos and 1080p videos of up to 60 seconds. Users can also livestream directly to Facebook or Instagram and capture content hands-free. For audio, the glasses use open-ear speakers with improved bass and clarity, along with five microphones for clearer voice capture. They can also be used to receive calls and listen to music.

The smart glasses can be paired to your smartphone using the newly introduced Meta AI app.

Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses come in several frame styles, including the classic Wayfarer and the newly launched Skyler. Buyers can choose between sun, clear, and prescription lenses. The glasses come with a charging case that offers up to 36 hours of usage, and the carry case doubles as a battery pack.
