Reliance Jio launches JioTele OS, a new operating system for smart TVs | Technology News
Reliance Jio has unveiled JioTele OS, an new developed operating system for smart TVs. In a post on X, the company said JioTele OS is “designed for India” and shared some of the features the new software has to offer.
Jumping in on the AI bandwagon, Reliance Jio claims JioTele OS will offer AI driven recommendations that will make it easier for users to find they are interested, but did not clariy if the recommendations will be based on the user’s watch history or show currently trending movies and TV shows.

The new operating system will also offer “smooth, lag-free, 4K streaming.” In addition to normal channels, the operating system will also offer access to popular OTT platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix and aggregate both regional and global content, but is yet to share any details about the same. JioTele OS is also touted to support cloud-based games that can be played with the included remote.
Reliance Jio has also promised timely OS updates and security patches, but there are no details how many years of updates these smart TVs will be entitled to.
Smart TVs running JioTeleOS will be available starting February 21. Reliance Jio said customers will be able to choose models from various companies like Kodak, JVC, BPL and Thompson to name a few, with many more models expected to hit the market in the coming months.
